ABOUT BIOETHANOL
Bioethanol is one of the most important biofuels in the world, responsible for fueling millions of light vehicles around the world, contributing for CO2 emission reduction and decreasing fossil fuel dependence, mainly on urban mobility.
More than 115 billion litres have been produced annually for the last 5 years. 80% of this volume is produced in US and Brazil, but production is still increasing in India, Europe, and China. There are many feedstocks that can be used for ethanol production like sugarcane, sugar beet, corn and wheat, depending on local agricultural availability. Bioethanol is also an important backbone for other chemicals production like industrial pharmaceuticals specialties and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using the Alcohol-to-Jet (AtJ) pathway.
